Chromebook and Hotspot Lending: Downloading Files

You can find files you have downloaded to the Chromebook with the Files application, or "app". This is the Files symbol on a Chromebook:

1. To open the Files app, click the “Launcher” symbol at the bottom left of your screen.

 

2. At the bottom middle of the screen a white bar will appear. Type "files". You can also use this search bar to type and find other apps on the Chromebook.

 

3. The Files symbol will appear in a list of matching apps. Click on the symbol to open Files.

Files you have downloaded will appear in the "Downloads” folder. If you have logged into the Chromebook with your Google account, you will also see a “Google Drive” folder, which lets you access all your Google Drive files.

5. The Files symbol is now at the bottom of your screen. To make it easy to find again, hold down the "alt" key on the keyboard ("alt" is at both sides of the keyboard) and click on the symbol.

6. Click on "Pin." The File app will now stay on the bottom of your screen.
